SIU investigates shooting in Oneida First Nation territory - Globe and Mail

Ontario's police watchdog is investigating a shooting that happened in the Oneida First Nation territory near London.

The Special Investigations Unit says one man was taken to hospital with gunshot wounds after what is described as a "police-involved" shooting on Saturday morning.

Ontario Provincial Police had been investigating a robbery that occurred the day before.

The SIU says police received information that a suspect was driving around the territory with a loaded gun.

The SIU says the OPP and the man exchanged gunfire.

The SIU has assigned four investigators and two forensic investigators to probe the incident.
