VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Kari Lehtonen stopped all 27 shots he faced to help the Dallas Stars shutout the Vancouver Canucks 2-0 at Rogers Arena. The result extends the Canucks' losing streak to five games.
Colton Sceviour scored the game-winning goal 2:53 into the second period. Sceviour's centreing pass from a bad angle was headed through the crease, but caught a piece of Lack's glove and went in the net.
The Canucks had most of the pressure leading up to the goal. They outshot Dallas 11-5 in the first period, but Lehtonen was very sharp to keep the game goalless.
Dallas turned up the pressure following the Sceviour tally, and ended up firing 17 shots on Lack in the second period. He stopped the other 16.
Vancouver had a few good chances to pull even in the third period, but once again Lehtonen was there to keep the puck out.
With Lack on the Canucks bench for an extra attacker, Kevin Bieksa had a point shot blocked, which led to Antoine Roussel icing the game with an empty-netter.
The Canucks haven't won since Dec. 4 against Pittsburgh. They'll look to get back on track on Saturday night when they host the Calgary Flames.
