EDMONTON - One man is dead and three were transported to hospital with unknown injuries after a Ford Mustang lost control on Highway 11 and was struck by an oncoming five-ton moving van.

RCMP from Rocky Mountain House, Alta., and Sylvan Lake, Alta., as well as STARS Air Ambulance responded to the scene at 3 p.m.

While the collision is still being investigated, it appears the Mustang was travelling westbound on Highway 11 when it lost control near Range Road 42 — around 40 kilometres east of Rocky Mountain House — where it entered the northbound ditch, crossed over to the southbound ditch and eventually was struck by an oncoming moving van.

The male driver of the Mustang was pronounced dead at the scene while three passengers were taken to hospital.

Both the driver and passenger in the moving van were unharmed.
