On Thursday night, 28-year-old woman was allegedly sexually assaulated by a taxi driver while she was on her way back home in South West Delhi's Madhu Vihar area.
The woman hired the taxi from local taxi operator in Rajouri garden at around 10:30 pm.
In her complaint the woman said that when she had boarded the cab there was already another passenger who was sitting at the front seat. However, when she raised an objection the driver told her that he would get off at Dwarka. Later, driver stopped the vehicle near Dabri crossing on the pretext of checking the CNG tank and sat beside her in the rear seat and started touching her inappropriately. She resisted and raised an alarm.
Hearing her calls for help, a passerby informed the police and intervened. The driver tried to dump the woman and flee but was caught by the locals and was handed over to the police.
A case under section of raped (376 IPC) and assault (323 IPC) has been registered against the driver. Police have also detained the co-passenger for questioning.
