Three people, including the suspect, were killed in a shooting at Marine Base Quantico.
The military released the names of the three Marines who died in a shooting Thursday night at a base in Quantico Virginia.
Two of those involved, the alleged shooter and one of the victims, have been identified as Bay Area residents.
It was a case of a double murder and then a suicide.
A relationship dispute is believed to have been the cause of the shooting.
The alleged shooter, Sgt. Eusebio Lopez, 25, was a Pacifica resident, according to a statement released Satufday by Col. David W. Maxwell, the base commander.
Lopez was a tactics instructor at the Officer Candidates School and a machine-gunner. He joined the Marine Corps in May 2006 and has deployed in both Iraq and Afghanistan. (Photo below).
Lopez is alleged to have shot and killed Lance Cpl. Sara Castromata, a 19-year-old resident of Oakley and Corporal Jacob Wooley, 23, of Guntown, Mississippi.
Castromata served as a warehouse clerk. She joined the Marine Corps in December 2011, and was promoted to her current rank just last month.
The shooting occurred around 10:30 p.m. in Taylor Hall, a barracks at Officer Candidate School, Maxwell said.
Lopez is believed to have shot and killed Castromata and Wooley, and then killed himself by a self-inflicted gun wound.
A tribute video was posted on YouTube in Castromata's honor.
