A jury has found 27-year-old Robert Reitmeier guilty of second-degree murder in the beating death of Mark Mariani in 2010.

Mariani, who suffered from Crohn's disease, was walking down a northwest alley heading for his parked car, when he was savagely kicked and stomped on Oct. 3rd, 2010.

The 47-year-old was unable to defend himself.

Tyler Sturrup, 28, who helped found the Western European Bloodline supremacist group, had earlier pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in Mariani's death.

He admitted in court to attacking Mariani for no reason.

Following the verdict, the Mariani family emerged from the courthouse saying they were overjoyed by the verdict, and that it's been a long time coming and can finally put this behind them.

They wouldn't go so far as to say there would be closure because there is a noticeable member of their family missing.

Family members also wore a flower on their lapel made out of the victim's clothing so they could bring Mark with them wherever the went.

The Crown Prosecutor says second degree murder carries with it an automatic life sentence and the issue now is what his parole eligibility will be.

Sentencing in the case will wrap up next Tuesday.
