Man Killed in Carjacking Outside New Jersey Mall: Prosecutors - NBC New York

A person was shot in a carjacking attempt near the Short Hills Mall in northern New Jersey.

A man leaving a New Jersey mall after shopping with his wife was shot and killed in a carjacking Sunday night, prosecutors say.

The 30-year-old man was opening the car door to get into his 2012 Land Rover Range Rover outside the Mall at Short Hills in Millburn about 9 p.m., when two men approached and shot him at least once, said Carolyn Murray, Essex County's acting prosecutor. He was pronounced dead about 11:45 p.m.

His wife, who had gotten in the SUV seconds before the shooting, wasn't hurt.

Police are looking for the suspects and the SUV, which has New Jersey license plate number U26-BVD.
