The mother of the model shot dead by Oscar Pistorius appeared unmoved today as he sobbed and howled in the witness box when describing the moment he realised he had killed her.
June Steenkamp, whose daughter, Reeva, was killed in Mr Pistorius's bathroom, sat grim-faced on the relatives' bench in the Pretoria courtroom, staring straight ahead, as the athlete choked and heaved with grief.
Half shouting, half weeping, his words were barely intelligible as he described discovering her lifeless body. "She wasn't breathing," he managed, before covering his face with his hands. "I sat over Reeva and I cried."
