amy van dykenThe immediate effects that the swimmer Amy Van Dyken felt include numb toes and legs. This was after she had a ruptured spine in an accident on all-terrain vehicle. The accident happened in Scottsdale Arizona last weekend.

The sixth time gold medalist in the Olympic was quickly airlifted to the Scottsdale Osborn Medical Center. This is where she had a spine surgery. The management of the hospital refused to publicize any details about her condition. Yet, as of Monday afternoon, a report by Chron stated that she was in a good condition.

The family of the athlete released a statement saying that Van Dyken almost has a ruptured aorta because of her severed spinal cord.

In the social media, many prayers for recovery where addressed to the 42 year old Olympic star. There were also fellow swimmers who expressed their thoughts for her.
