In shocking news, Canadian Federal Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau's Ottawa home was broken into Saturday. His family was inside when the break-in occurred and reportedly a threatening note was left behind.
The Star shared that he is pretty shook up after the incident. His wife and three children were asleep inside the home when during the break-in. Justin's family was not hurt during the incident. Reports are coming of a threatening letter left behind, but police are releasing few details. There are also no reports on any missing property. CBC News shared that a locksmith was seen at Trudeau's house today. There have not been any reports of suspects at this time, and more information should continue to be released soon. Cpl. Lucy Shorey of the RCMP said Trudeau is not currently receiving protection from the RCMP.
The Minister of Public Safety is responsible for designating who should be protected, she added.Protecting high-ranking politicians is a costly process. According to government documents, it costs about $20 million per year to protect the prime minister, CTV News reports. Prime Minister Stephen Harper said he considers the break-in "worrying," and is glad Trudeau's family is safe.
