MONTREAL -- The only mercy is that Jun Lin's father wisely chose not to listen as the forensic pathologist outlined the autopsy on his son.
If only we didn't have to as well.
The injuries inflicted on the 33-year-old Chinese university student, admittedly by Luka Magnotta, are long and shocking. It took Dr. Yann Daze five different days over June and July 2012 to perform the post-mortem as police recovered and delivered different packages containing the young man's severed body parts.
First, there were those found in garbage bags and a suitcase outside Magnotta's apartment building on May 29. Later, the four mailed boxes of Lin's hands and feet gift wrapped and posted to Vancouver schools and Ottawa political parties. And finally, a month after the killing, the man's mummified head, left outside to the ravages of weather and wildlife.
