There was outrage across the world today as it was revealed killer Oscar Pistorius could be out of jail in 10 months.
The disgraced Paralympian was jailed for five years for killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp – but is likely to only serve one sixth of his sentence.
Fighting back tears, Reeva's cousin Kim Martin said: "I believe the sentence should be longer.
"I don't think it's enough, not because I want to see him suffer but because I just think Reeva's life was worth more than that."
She said she agreed with prosecutor Gerrie Nel, who had pleaded for him to get 10 years behind bars.
And the slain model's mother June, 67, said: "There's no closure without Reeva unless you can magic her back."
Billionaire Donald Trump was among those who condemned Judge Thokozile Masipa's sentence, sparking a row with Pistorius' brother Carl.
Mr Trump tweeted: "Oscar Pistorius will likely only serve 10 months for the cold blooded murder of his girlfriend. Another O.J. travesty. The judge is a moron!"
Carl Pistorius hit back: "Buddy, your self righteousness or money wont save you @realDonaldTrump – time to consider eternity."
Other tweets also slammed the sentence.
Molly Nicklen posted: "5 years sentenced... And only will do 10 months? Whats wrong with the justice system! You get longer for intent to supply!"
And one mocking tweet said: "10 months in jail and the rest of the 5 years under house arrest?
"Why not just make him sit on the naughty step for an hour?"
After sentencing, Pistorius, 27, held hands with sombre family members as he returned to the cells in Pretoria High Court in South Africa.
He had removed his designer watch as Judge Masipa jailed him, slipping it into the hands of his uncle Arnold.
After spending so much of his seven-month trial in high emotion, Pistorius was calm and composed as he was driven off.
He was unshackled and still wearing his black suit as he was taken in an armoured police van to the infamous Kgosi Mampuru II prison, barely a mile away.
It has been claimed gang rape and violence are rife there.
One inmate known as The General has already said he will execute the world-famous athlete if he is given any preferential treatment.
Pistorius was tonight placed in a single cell in the hospital wing and described as "bewildered" by the facility's area commissioner, Zebilon Monama.
"He is deurmekaar, as they say in Afrikaans," said Mr Monama.
Deurmekaar means bewildered or confused.
Home for at least 10 months: The prison where he will serve his sentenceDouble amputee Pistorius is in the hospital wing because of his "vulnerability", said Mr Monama.
"It is my responsibility to protect any vulnerable person."
Pistorius, who will be one of 7,000 prisoners, will be given an orange uniform to wear and offered anger management courses.
It is believed he will be on suicide watch and can pay for visits from his own doctor.
Judge Masipa last month cleared Pistorius of murdering Reeva, 29, but convicted him of culpable homicide.
The model died after Pistorius fired four shots through a locked toilet door on Valentine's Day last year.
The judge accepted his explanation that he mistook her for an intruder. She told Pistorius yesterday that she had decided on a sentence that was "fair and just".
The athlete's legal team had argued that prison posed "a danger" to him because of his disability and fragile mental state.
But 67-year-old Judge Masipa said she believed Pistorius' disability had been "over-emphasised" and his "excellent coping skills" would equip him to adapt to life behind bars.
Pistorius' gaze never left the judge during her 80-minute reading and he scarcely moved until she ordered him to stand to hear his fate.
Handing down the five-year jail sentence, she stressed any punishment other than prison would "send the wrong message to the community".
Under South African laws, after he has served a sixth of his sentence Pistorius can apply to spend the remaining time under house arrest.
A prosecution spokesman said they had two weeks to decide whether to appeal against the sentence.
But Reeva's mother, who was born in Blackburn, Lancashire, appeared resigned to the result.
June said: "It doesn't matter. He's going to pay something. It was the best sentence we could have expected."

Cousin Kim added: "We mustn't underestimate how difficult it is going to be for Oscar in prison. It is going to be hard for him.
" I can feel sorry for him but it doesn't mean that I don't feel he must serve time to pay for what he has done to Reeva.
"Sorry is not about words or paying money, sorry is about actions.
Immediately after killing Reeva he showed no remorse. He went out partying on numerous occasions."
She went on: "Oscar will have to live with what he's done and the truth for the rest of his life."
Reeva's father Barry, 71 – who has suffered two strokes since losing his daughter – said he and his wife were "satisfied with the result and are relieved it's all over".
He told reporters outside the court: "All we want to do now is get on with our lives."
