The mobile video shows the single-engine plane soaring over the treetops before it suddenly disappears in the distance.
"Oh no!," one person can be heard in the video published by the New York Daily News. "I hope he's going to make it. "
The Star Wars actor was "banged up" when he crash-landed his World War II-era Ryan PT-22 plane, but was expected to make a full recovery, his publicist said in a statement.
72-year-old Ford was forced to make the emergency landing at the Penmar Golf Course soon after taking off from the Santa Monica airport when his plane's engine failed. No one else was on board.
A crash witness said: "He was talking a little and there was a huge gash on his head."

The Star Wars and Indiana Jones star was said to be stable in hospital last night. while son Ben Ford said dad is doing "OK".
Witness Elaine Miller, who was golfing at the time of the crash, said: "He was able to speak, he expressed that he was in pain, which was
no surprise.
"He had a significant head wound. He asked someone to hold his legs up, and people were just saying, 'you're okay, the fire department is on its way,' and once police and fire started to arrive, my friends and I sort of backed away and went to the other side of the course to give them room."

A rep for the star later issued a statement, saying: "Harrison was flying a World War II vintage plane today which had engine trouble upon take off.
"He had no other choice but to make an emergency landing, which he did safely. He was banged up and is in hospital receiving medical care.
"The injuries sustained are not life threatening, and he is expected to make a full recovery."
Writing on Twitter, Harrison's son Ben said: "At the hospital. Dad is ok. Battered, but ok! He is every bit the man you would think he is. He is an incredibly strong man.
"Thank you all for your thoughts and good vibes for my dad."

In October, 1999, Ford was piloting a Bell 206L4 helicopter when it lost power and crashed over Santa Clarita, California.
Neither Ford nor his instructor was injured although the helicopter was wrecked.
When asked about it in a TV interview, he replied: "I broke it."
Ford broke his leg on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII at Pinewood Studios last June after a door fell on him.

Hollywood star Harrison Ford was last night reported to be in a critical condition after he was rushed to hospital suffering "serious injuries" when the plane he was piloting crash landed.
The Star Wars actor came down on Venice golf course in California shortly after take off when his single seater took a nose dive.
According to reports the 72-year-old suffered multiple gashes to his head and was bleeding heavily.
The Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed the accident tweeting: "1 small aircraft down on Penmar Golf Course near the Santa Monica airport.
"Solo occupant, an adult male being transported to local hospital in critical condition.
"No other injuries."
Police spokeswoman Nuria Vanegas added: "The incident was reported at 2:25pm, it was mechanical failure of plane, that's what caused the accident."
Eyewitness Howard Teba, who was at the golf course when the plane crashed, said: "We saw this beautiful plane.
"It looks like a plane I see often, leaving from Santa Monica Airport.
"Must have hit top of tree."
Aerial footage of the stricken plane showed one person being treated by paramedics and being transported to a hospital.
The actor, who plays Hans Solo the hit Star War movies, is a longtime aviator piloting planes and helicopters and has crashed multiple times in the past.
Ian Gregor, Public Affairs manager for American Federal Aviation Administration, confirmed the vintage World War II training plane had gone down west of Santa Monica Airport.
He said he did not have information about the pilot, but added that Ford's pilot's license was issued out of the Santa Monica Airport in 2009 and is for single engine airplanes.
Ford broke his leg while on the set of "Star Wars: Episode VII" in England June last year after a door crashed down on it.
He had successful surgery following the incident.
Speaking previously about his love of flying be said he "loved the freedom of flight."
"I love the places you go," he said.
"I love the people in aviation, the people that I meet in aviation.
"I love seeing the world from an airplane.
"I'm in love with flying."

Santa Monica Airport is well known to celebrities who live in the area.
Tom Cruise, Arnold Schwarzenegger and casino mogul Steve Wynn have all kept their planes there.
However the safety record of the Santa Monica aerodrome has been often brought in to question.
A number of safety issues have been highlights.
Two years ago four people died when the Cessna Citation they were in touched down on the runway before veering hard right.
As the pilot struggled to gain control it smashed into an airport hangar, bursting into flames and collapsing the building.
According to federal records there have been at least 11 crashes involving planes coming and going from Santa Monica since 1989.
Some local residents have called for it to be closed down citing its safety record however several pilots have argued against them saying there is nothing wrong the airport.
Six were on to airport grounds, two hit nearby homes, a couple came down in the ocean and another crashed on a golf course.
The airport is located about 400 yards from the golf course.

Ford's plane was a Ryan PT-22 which was used by the United States Army air Corps, typically for primary pilot training.
It became surplus to military requirements after the World War II era but had been designed with a sturdy metal fuselage to protect its pilots in case of crash landing.
Some experts last night said it is what may have saved Ford's life.
The wings are covered with fabric too make it lighter and more manoeuvrable.
With a top speed of 131mph it can climbs to altitudes of 15,500ft while powered by its 160-hp Kinner engine.
On a full tank of fuel it can fly 352 miles.
Golfer: 'He had a significant head wound'
Ford suffered a "significant" head wound, according to a golfer who was on the course at the time of the plane crash.
Elaine Miller said: "He was able to speak, he expressed that he was in pain, which was no surprise.
"He had a significant head wound.

"He was conscious, talking a little -- a HUGE cut on his head."
