One man is dead, and three others, including two children, are seriously injured in collision between a van and a Via Rail train near La Tuque, Que.
The passenger train was en route from Montreal to Senneterre, some 530 km northwest, when it was struck at a remote crossing around 5:30 Friday afternoon.
The 48-year-old driver of the van and his family were taken to hospital, where the man was pronounced dead early Saturday.
A 12-year-old boy remained in critical condition Saturday, while a 43-year-old woman and a 12-year-old girl suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Their names were not released.
There were four passengers and three crew on the train, none of whom were injured.
Provincial police and the Transportation Safety Board are investigating the cause of the crash.
